Can regular moisturization help prevent atopic dermatitis? To find out, we recently spoke with Dr. Lawrence Eichenfield about the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recommendations on moisturization for atopic dermatitis prevention. He examines the evidence for early emollient use in infants at increased risk of developing the disease along with the limitations and challenges of translating clinical trial findings into everyday practice. Dr. Eichenfield is a Distinguished Professor of Dermatology and Pediatrics at UC San Diego School of Medicine as well as Chief of Pediatric and Adolescent Dermatology at Rady Children's Hospital San Diego.
